Laser Therapy for Joint Pain in Eccleshall

Laser therapy for neck pain

Hannah is now able to offer lazer therapy in Eccleshall for joint pain using the industry leading Thor laser. There is good evidence for low-level laser therapy (photobiomodulation – PBM) in treating joint pain effectively and quickly.

The laser works by using red light to improve how your cells release energy, thereby helping with tissue repair, reducing inflammation and reducing pain. There is good evidence that it can help with neck pain, back pain, tendinopathies (tendon pain) and joint pain.

Thor Lazer therapy has been tested with proven results for:

  • Knee pain and osteoarthritis
  • Finger, hand and thumb joint pain and osteoarthritis
  • Jaw pain (TMJ disorder)
  • Spinal pain and osteoarthritis
  • Facial nerve pain (Trigeminal neuralgia)
  • Neck pain and osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Wound healing post surgery
  • Pelvic pain e.g. sacroiliac pain
  • Hip pain e.g. bursitis

Laser therapy is safe and effective. Safety glasses are provided during treatment to protect your eyes from the laser. There is no heat or pain felt during treatment.

Laser therapy can be used safely over metal implants, plastics, stitches and on patients fitted with a pacemaker.

Treatment aims to improve lymphatic drainage and increase blood flow; reduce pain and inflammation; improve flexibility and function and speed up healing and repair.

Both acute and chronic injuries can be treated. This means that a new or recently re-injured tissue can be treated, as well as older injuries that haven’t settled or have been a long term problem.

Getting treatment as soon as possible is recommended for new injuries or recent surgeries as well as sports injuries.

For example, in a new or recent episode of back pain, treatment is best started within 12 hours of injury and then daily for three days before being treated twice a week until resolution.

For older injuries, for example in arthritis or nerve pain, treatment might be twice a week for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Sessions are 20 minutes and are currently at the introductory price of £25 making this an affordable treatment for the regular sessions needed to be effective.

Reactions to treatment might include localised feelings of warmth, tingling, an increase or a decrease in symptoms within the 24 hours immediately following treatment. Much less commonly sensations such as fatigue, nausea or dizziness have been reported. You can ask Hannah about these possible reactions at any time before, during or after your appointment.

Treatments can be booked as a stand alone session of 20 minutes or can be booked onto the end of a follow up osteopathy appointment.
